For the week of March 16th, “Ellie” is our Pet Of The Week.  Nikki Anderson nominated her dog, and here’s her story



Ellie's Story:

April 20th of 2006 my dog Molly passed away at 8 years old due to cancer. I told my mom I would never ever love another dog again. But of course about a year and a half later Ellie came into my life... And proved me wrong of course!

Ellie is the most wonderful dog a family could possibly ever had. She helped me and my mom overcome Molly's death. She's such a joy to be around everyday. Ellie is a 2 year old Border Collie and full of energy! She absolutely LOVES to be outside every chance she possibly can. Ellie is very intelligent. When her food dish is empty, she will pick it up and bring it to you to make sure you fill it back up with food. She's very picky.  She likes to have FRESH water rather than water that's been sitting in her dish for a day and a half. She'll let you know! My dad takes her outside and throws the ball around for her (because a Border Collie needs not to mention loves to stay active) and he will tell her, "Ellie, go get my boots", and of course Ellie will run into the kitchen, dig under our wood stove and grab a boot (one at a time) and bring them to him.

She's very skittish. When new people come around she'll bark, but we all know she would never do any harm to anybody. She's the most loving dog in the world. She's very spoiled, and we even let her sleep on the beds at night....

She also enjoys spending hours a day leaning on the back of the couch to gaze out of our living room window looking up in the trees for chippies. She's a real joy to be around. Coming home you know that you're always going to have a warm and hearty welcome because Ellie is there to greet you at the door, tail wagging and body wiggling, so excited to see you.

Ellie is a true blessing to this family and I couldn't be more thankful that we were so fortunate to add her to the family as well. She's like one of our children. We love her more and more as each day passes.
