This week’s pet is Sammy Jo, owned by Jen!




Says Jen--“This is Samantha Josephine. We call her Sammy Jo. She came into our lives when she was one and a half years old. She was found on the streets by someone who cared, but didn't have the space to keep her. They had done some research on her past and found out that her owner had moved to Florida and just let her outside to live on her own. She had a veterinary record that included only her very first puppy shot. We fell in love with her the moment we met her. She looked healthy and got along with the dog that we already had. She became part of our family but two days later...she had 11 puppies! Surprise!! Only nine of them lived but we were quite unprepared. We managed to find good homes for all of the pups and get Sammy on a vaccination schedule. With that, she had some other health issues too. Mastitis while she was nursing, and (she) tested positive for Lyme Disease.

I'm happy to say that Sammy is still part of our family! She will be 9 years old in August. She is a great protector and is great with our two young children. You can tell that she appreciates what we did for her and we appreciate her being a good dog.
