Brits pick U2, Coldplay, Eminem in favorite lyrics poll.
LONDON, UK [Tuesday May.2.2006] /WMQT.com/ -- U2's song "One" is No. 1 with British fans.
The song's lyrics topped a recent online poll conducted by VH1 to determine Britain's favorite song lyrics.
Over 13,000 people in the UK participated in VH1's favorite lyrics poll, where they picked their favorite lyrics from a list of 100 songs selected by music industry figures.
U2 nabbed the No. 1 spot with their enduring hit song "One," from the album "Achtung Baby." The line, "One life, with each other, sisters, brothers," was voted Britain's favorite lyric.
The Smiths' "How Soon Is Now" was voted No. 2, Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was No. 3, and Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" placed No. 4.
Coldplay came in at No. 5 for the song "Yellow" off the band's debut album, Parachutes," while Eminem was sixth with "Lose Yourself."
Other songs to making the Top 10 in VH1's favorite lyrics poll included Robbie Williams' "Angels," The Who's "My Generation," Radiohead's "Creep," and Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On."
