SAN FRANCISCO, CA  [Friday Aug.11.2006]  /WMQT.com/ -- Singer-songwriter Jack Johnson and U2's Bono are among the artists interviewed in the Allen Ginsberg Movie, "The Life and Times of Allen Ginsberg."

Other musicians who share their thoughts about the famous American poet in the DVD film include Beck, Joan Baez, Paul McCartney, Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth, Yoko Ono and Patti Smith.

The Jerry Aronson-directed film offers an intimate portrait of Ginsberg, the radical and renowned poet who was a founding member of the Beat literary movement in America. Ginsberg's works include the ground-breaking poem "HOWL."

"The Life and Times of Allen Ginsberg" began filming in 1982 and now is complete, updated and re-mastered. The deluxe 2-disc DVD set contains the Director's cut of the award-winning documentary.

This DVD set includes exclusive and revealing historical interviews with his friends, family and contemporaries as well as never-before-seen materials made public because of the warm friendship that developed between Ginsberg and the filmmaker. Also included are many new interviews with the latest generation of artists influenced by Ginsberg.
