LOS ANGELES, CA [Monday Nov.13.2006] /WMQT.com/ -- The Red Hot Chili Peppers, T.I., and Queens of the Stone Age are helping to launch Microsoft's highly-anticipated Zune player.
The bands will be playing free shows today to kick off the launch, which officially begins tomorrow, November 14th. The Peppers will perform in Los Angeles, T.I. in the ATL, and Queens in New York, with specific venues to be announced online.
Other Zune gigs taking place today...Lupe Fiasco at 401 Michigan Ave in Chicago, and the Secret Machines in Seattle's West Lake Plaza.
Universal Music Group just signed a deal with Microsoft to get a percentage of Zune sales. UMG CEO Doug Morris said, "These devices are just repositories for stolen music, and they all know it. So it's time to get paid for it."
