"The Saints Are Coming" Hits #1 on European Charts
U2/Green Day project rises above the rest
by Laura Katz

LOS ANGELES, CA [Wednesday Nov.22.2006] /WMQT.com/ -- The U2/Green Day collaboration "The Saints Are Coming" has made its way to the top of the European charts.
Although originally written and recorded by Scottish punk rock band The Skids back in the 70's, the modern-day version acts as a powerful tribute to the city of New Orleans. According to Billie Joe Armstrong, the inspiration to cover the song was inspired by the city's football team, the New Orleans Saints.
"The Saints Are Coming" is at #1 on the European chart, followed by the Scissor Sisters' "I Don't Feel Like Dancing," and Justin Timberlake Feat TI's "My Love" at #3.
