Big & Rich Once Busted By Cops at Daytona Speedway
Kenny mistaken for lead singer of Goo Goo Dolls

by Neil Haislop

Big & Rich
NASHVILLE, TN  [Thursday Feb.22.2007]  /WMQT.com/ -- According to USRN's Kerry Murphey, host of the "Final Lap" NASCAR report daily feature, Big & Rich told the press at the speedway that they were honored to have been invited to sing the National Anthem at this year's Daytona 500 mega race.

Turns out it was not their first trip to the speedway, they told the press, and unlike the first time, this time they didn't get busted by the police!

"We actually went around this race track one night," revealed Big Kenny. John Rich explained, "It was about five years ago...for the memorial concert for Dale Earnhardt that was here. This is before we had become 'Big & Rich", we were just John and Kenny...out running around and nothing in our career as Big & Rich had really happened yet. We came down with our manager Mark Oswald, down here with Sheryl Crow and Brooks & Dunn, the Goo Goo Dolls and all these acts. So, we were on the infield and about 2:00 in the morning everybody was pretty much gone, so we thought. So, we took our rented Cadillac DeVille on the track! I did the first two turns and Kenny took the other two turns and we were met at the finish line by blue lights and police officers! They let us go because they thought Kenny was the lead singer from the Goo Goo Dolls. That's a true story."
