LOS ANGELES, CA [Monday Apr.30.2007] /WMQT.com/ -- A fundraiser featuring items from Bono, The Edge, Jimi Hendrix and more took in a record 2.4 million last weekend.
The auction was to benefit Music Rising, a charity that replaces instruments that were lost or damaged in Hurricane Katrina. The Edge is co-founder of the organization.
Some of the items on the block were sunglasses worn by John Lennon and Bono, guitars owned by Jimi hendrix, Paul McCartney and The Edge, and a recording contract belonging to Elvis Presley.
According to NME.com, Jimi Hendrix's guitar raked in $480,000.
