FISHKILL, NY [Friday Jun.8.2007] /WMQT.com/ -- Akon's lawyer said the star did nothing criminal when he threw a teenager off the stage and into the audience during a recent KFEST concert in Fishkill, NY.
It went down like so - someone threw something at Akon during the show. Akon asked security to wrangle the culprit and bring him on stage. Akon helped the young man up from the crowd, hoisted him in the air, threw him back from whence he came.
A statement was released on Wednesday: "Given the information that we have reviewed to date, it does not appear to us that Akon was involved in any criminal conduct whatsoever," attorney Benjamin Brafman said. "We are prepared to fully cooperate with any law enforcement agency that may be investigating this incident. We are confident that after a thorough investigation it will be apparent that no criminal prosecution of Akon is warranted."
According to the Poughkeepsie Journal, Fishkill police have identified the concertgoer as a 15-year-old resident of Harriman, Orange County.
Detective Lt. John Berlingieri said no charges have been filed in the matter.
