LONDON, UK [Monday Sep.10.2007] /WMQT.com/ -- The Klaxons took home the coveted Mercury Prize last week for Album Of The Year.
The band won the UK award for "Myths of the Near Future," beating out tabloid darling Amy Winehouse in the process.
Klaxons member Jamie Reynolds said of their win against Winehouse, "Her record is a retro record, ours is the most forward thinking record of the year. We are moving forward."
Winehouse's husband, Blake Fielder-Civil insists that the award should have gone to his wife. He said, "Amy was robbed. Who knows why they didn't give her the award. But I was so proud of her for her performance. She's really well and she doesn't need to go back into rehab."
