Kenny's Double Reasons For Celebrating This Week
Chesney welcomes album release and #1 single

by Neil Haislop

Kenny Chesney
NASHVILLE, TN  [Thursday Sep.13.2007]  /WMQT.com/ -- Kenny Chesney celebrated the release of his new album Just Who I Am: Pirates and Poets, hit stores yesterday.

Plus, he found out that he hit #1 again...this time as the writer of a #1 song, "Take Me There," by Rascal Flatts.

"It's funny," says Chesney. "As I've been doing the press for my record, everyone has brought up the fact that I didn't write anything on my record -- as if that's the mark of an artist ... not the idea of picking the best songs for what you want to say. And a few people who knew a little bit more about country music, they knew that Rascal Flatts had this song of mine, and they wanted to know if I was disappointed about letting it get away. You know, I think the way Gary and Jay and Joe Don did this song, it's exactly where it was supposed to be. I mean, we listened to it the last day we cut, but somehow it just didn't feel like it was meant for my record -- and hearing them do it, I know why! I wrote it, but it was probably always their song..."
