DUBLIN, IRELAND [Thursday Oct.4.2007] /WMQT.com/ -- U2 rocker Bono's plans to expand the Dublin hotel he owns has infuriated Irish environmental authorities.
His new designs for the expansion of The Clarence Hotel include building a glass dome on top of the existing structure, which has been described as a "skycatcher" and a "white hovering halo."
Locals fear the modernization of the hotel will overshadow neighbouring Georgian buildings, which are of artistic and historical significance.
Bono co-owns The Clarence Hotel with bandmate The Edge. They bought the property in 1992.
