ATLANTA, GA [Monday Oct.22.2007] /WMQT.com/ -- Kid Rock (real name: Robert James Ritchie) was arrested on charges of misdemeanor battery early Sunday morning in DeKalb County, Georgia, after he and his crew allegedly beat up a man at a Waffle House.
Rock was eating at the restaurant when Harlem DeJon Akins recognized a woman in his entourage and started to speak with her. Rock got in the way, and a fight broke out.
Akins suffered minor cuts and bruises after punching and breaking a window at the Waffle House. After the fight, Rock and his crew were stopped in their tour bus about a mile away. They were taken into custody and charged with battery. Akins faces a felony charge of second-degree criminal damage to property for breaking the window, which was valued at more than $500
Rock was released later Sunday after posting a $1,000 bond. The Associated Press reports that he spent 12 hours in jail.
