[Thursday Sep.25.2003] /WMQT.com/ -- Who's the best act in the world? The UK's Q magazine is attempting to find out.
Their Q Awards nominations have been announced and in "Best band in the world" category, Coldplay will battle Radiohead, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Blur. The winners are picked by fans of Q magazine, TV station and web site.
Even though Coldplay may very well be the best band in the world today, they don't rate a best album nod. Instead those honors went to by Blur (Think Tank), Radiohead (Hail To The Thief), Feeder (Comfort In Sound), White Stripes (Elephant) and 50 Cent (Get Rich Or Die Tryin').
Nominations are as follows:
Best single - Christina Aguilera, Dirrty; White Stripes, 7 Nation Army; Muse, Time Is Running Out; Coldplay, Clocks; Electric Six, Danger, High Voltage.
Best album - Blur, Think Tank; Radiohead, Hail To The Thief; Feeder, Comfort In Sound; White Stripes, Elephant; 50 Cent, Get Rich Or Die Tryin'.
Best new act - The Darkness; The Thrills; Athlete; Kings Of Leon; The Rapture.
Best video - Electric Six, Gay Bar; Christina, Dirrty; Junior Senior, Move Your Feet; Coldplay, Scientist; Muse, Time Is Running Out.
Best producer - Pharrel Williams (Neptunes); Nigel Godrich (Radiohead); Ethan Johns (Kings Of Leon); Dr Dre (50 Cent); Blur/Ben Hillier (Blur).
Best live act - Robbie Williams; Coldplay; The Darkness; Eminem; Queens Of The Stone Age.
Best act in the world today - Radiohead; Foo Fighters; Coldplay; Red Hot Chilli Peppers; Blur.
Innovation award - Richard X; Super Furry Animals; Goldfrapp; David Gray; Muse.
