BURBANK, CA [Tuesday Jan.6.2004] /WMQT.com/ -- Karaoke Revolution is the first-ever interactive karaoke videogame. The Konami PlayStation2 release lets aspiring pop stars of all ages and abilities sing along to over 35 hit songs while scoring their performance on pitch and rhythm.
A headset microphone, reminiscent of Janet Jackson, is bundled with the game and players belt out popular tunes. The game uses proprietary "voice analyzer" technology to rate the player's performance, judging the accuracy of each note and lyric sung by the player, making Karaoke Revolution the first-ever videogame to register pitch and rhythm. As the players hit the right notes, a dynamic crowd cheers players on, or boo players off stage as they miss their cues and keys.
Songs from a wide range of music categories are featured in Karaoke Revolution, as are artists like Avril Lavigne, Barenaked Ladies, Michelle Branch, R.E.M., and Nickelback.
