OutKast Planning Speakerboxx Movie
'30s musical by OutKast video director

by Ellen Sawyer

Outkast
DETROIT, MI  [Thursday Feb.19.2004]  /WMQT.com/ -- Big Boi and Andre 3000 are planning a movie based on their "Speakerboxx/The Love Below" album. Both will star, and the film will be written and directed by Bryan Barber, who describes his vision of the film as "a mix between 'The Color Purple' and 'Amelie'."

Barber, who directed OutKast's "Hey Ya!" and "Way You Move" videos told Rolling Stone, "It's a 1930s period piece and musical. A lot of the music inspired the scenes and the scenes inspired other music."

The soundtrack, which is still being written by Big Boi and Andre, will also be the duo's next album and will feature outtakes from "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below."
