SPRINGFIELD, MO  [Thursday Apr.29.2004]  /WMQT.com/ -- Norah Jones will be among the artists taking part in a two-night, two-city tribute to Gram Parsons who died of a morphine and tequila overdose more than 30 years ago. Polly Parsons, the daughter of the cosmic country singer-songwriter, organized the concerts to commemorate her father's work. Known as the "Return to Sin City: A Tribute to Gram Parsons," the event features artists of different generations who have been influenced by Parsons. Jones will join Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams and other performers to cover Parsons' material, including his songs with the Byrds, the Flying Burrito Brothers, the International Submarine Band and his solo work. The tribute concerts take place in Southern California on July 9 at the Santa Barbara Bowl and July 10 at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. Tickets for both shows go on sale May 8 through Ticketmaster, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Musicians' Assistance Program (MAP).
