Crow says lawful downloads get people excited about songs.
CHICAGO, IL [Tuesday May.11.2004] /WMQT.com/ -- Sheryl Crow made history last week performing from Row 31 of a United Airlines jet.
Crow was asked to be part of the event to launch Sony's new Online Connect store because she is dedicated to artists' rights and the anti-piracy movement. Her performance in the sky also celebrated a partnership between Sony and United Airlines and marked the release of Sony's new Hi-MD digital walkman.
Before the flight left Chicago Crow told Rolling Stone, "I think the industry has really been reticent about acknowledging [the fact that] the technology is going to stay." She said, "Companies like Sony and companies like Apple are providing an opportunity to lawfully download music and be able to pay for it. It's not going to go away. So, I think the solution is to actually incorporate it and try to make it easier for people to download music." Crow added, "What I've realized with downloading and playlists and all the gadgets is it's making people excited about songs."
Soon, Crow's fans will be able to download her in-flight performance at the Sony Connect store at
