TORONTO, CANADA  [Tuesday Jun.8.2004]  /WMQT.com/ -- On Sunday, June 6, the Ottawa Citizen newspaper announced that Alanis Morissette is engaged to Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds.

The paper ran an interview with the singer's mother, Georgia Morissette, who confirmed her daughter's engagement. "I was absolutely delighted when Alanis told me," said Mrs. Morissette, who lives in Ottawa with husband, Alan. Added Alanis' mom, "I totally approve of Ryan, he's just a good guy." He has "a very good heart," she said.

Alanis Morissette and Reynolds have dated for over two years. Reynolds appeared in the TV sitcom, "Two Guys, A Girl and A Pizza Place," and he was also in the films "National Lampoon's Van Wilder," "The In-Laws" and "Foolproof."

Said Alanis' mom about her daughter's engagement, "Let's put it this way, it's the first time I've seen her this delighted in her life about somebody...This is just the icing on the cake."
