Jet frontman injures foot after jumping off amp at NY show.
NEW YORK, NY [Thursday Jul.15.2004] /WMQT.com/ -- During Jet's July 10 show at New York's Roseland Ballroom, Nic Cester took a flying leap off some tall amplifiers. The singer and guitarist apparently landed wrong, though, leaving him with a foot injury. When Jet played New Hampshire's Hampton Beach Casino the next night (July 11), Cester sported a cast on his foot.
On Jet's message board, one fan that attended the Roseland show said Cester was doing "some hellacious jumping." Wrote the fan, "He scared the drink out of us on the last jump...I think he scared [bassist] Mark [Wilson] too. He climbed WAY up onto the amps." But Cester "never let on [that] his foot was bothering him."
A fan that saw Jet's Hampton Beach performance reported that Cester "came out on a crutch and looked to be in a lot of pain by the time the show was over."
By all acounts though, Cester has been a real trooper despite his injury. He's even reportedly still climbing up amps, broken foot and all. Cester's foot will be in the cast for about three weeks.
Jet is currently on a US tour to promote their debut release, "Get Born." The album has sold over two million copies worldwide and is still going strong. Sloan and The Everyones provide support.
