Usher, Linkin Park, Alicia Keys, OutKast win AMAs.
LOS ANGELES, CA [Tuesday Nov.16.2004] /WMQT.com/ -- On Sunday night, Usher added more trophies to his ever-growing stash. Mr. Entertainment won four awards at the American Music Awards, making him the Award-Show King of 2004.
OutKast was another big winner at the AMAs, with Linkin Park, Alicia Keys and Jay-Z also taking home awards.
Usher was victorious in the categories of Favorite Male Soul-R&B Artist and Best Pop-Rock Artist, and his multi-platinum album, "Confessions," was named Best Pop-Rock Album and Best Soul-R&B Album.
Rap duo OutKast nabbed the Favorite Pop-Rock Band and Best Rap-Hip-Hop Group awards and landed the Favorite Rap-Hip-Hop award for "Speakerboxxx – The Love Below." Jay-Z was named Favorite Male Rap-Hip-Hop Artist and, for the second year running, Linkin Park won Favorite Alternative Music Artist.
Alicia Keys took home the Favorite Female Soul-R&B Artist trophy, while Sheryl Crow won for Favorite Female Pop-Rock Artist. Kenny Chesney won the Favorite Performer Award and fellow country singer Gretchen Wilson walked away with Best New Artist honors, beating out Maroon 5 and Kanye West.
The American Music Award nominees are selected based on record sales, with the winners decided by a survey of 20,000 listeners.
