by Krista Desens

Gwen Stefani
LONDON, UK  [Thursday Jan.20.2005]  /WMQT.com/ -- The "Tears in Heaven" charity single planned by Sharon Osbourne and "American Idol's" Simon Cowell is a go. MTV.com reports that among the artists confirmed to sing on the cover of the Eric Clapton song are Gwen Stefani, Velvet Revolver, Pink, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, Elton John, Rod Stewart, and Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne. The sales from this cover of "Tears in Heaven" will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee's Tsunami Earthquake Appeal to help tsunami victims in Southeast Asia.

Some artists will gather today, January 20, in London to record their sections, while others will gather in a Los Angeles studio next week to sing their parts.

The Grammy-Award-winning song, "Tears in Heaven," was written by Eric Clapton after his four-year-old son's untimely death.
