Kelly Clarkson, Hoobastank to perform for UNICEF benefit.
BANGKOK, THAILAND [Wednesday Feb.2.2005] /WMQT.com/ -- The MTV ASIA AID benefit concert airs this Thursday morning, February 3, at 9 a.m. ET on MTV2. Alicia Keys will host and Kelly Clarkson, Hoobastank, Simple Plan and Good Charlotte are scheduled to perform at the event, which helps raise funds for UNICEF efforts in Asia. Yesterday, Franz Ferdinand and the Black Eyed Peas were also added to the MTV ASIA AID line-up.
The show will be broadcast live from Bangkok, Thailand and features pre-recorded messages from Green Day, Nelly, 50 Cent, Sting and Ricky Martin, along with a taped performance by Jennifer Lopez. Others taking part include Ashanti, Keane, Enrique Iglesias, Jacki Chan and UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. MTV will air an edited version of MTV ASIA AID on February 4 at 8 p.m. ET.
In related news, this Thursday, February 3, MTV will broadcast a special edition of "Total Request Live" at 5 pm ET/PT that focuses on tsunami relief and aid efforts. TRL will be followed by another special program, "MTV NEWS PRESENTS: AFTER THE TSUNAMI," which begins at 6 p.m. ET/PT.
