ANAHEIM, CA [Tuesday Feb.8.2005] /WMQT.com/ -- On February 18, Linkin Park, Jay-Z, No Doubt and Blink-182 will come together to play Music for Relief's Concert for South Asia. All proceeds from the show benefit Music For Relief, the charity Linkin Park helped establish to provide aid to tsunami victims. The concert, which takes place at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, California, also stars Ozzy Osbourne, Jurassic 5 and Story of the Year. Organizers hope to raise $1 million from the event.
In a statement, Linkin Park guitarist Brad Delson said, "When we started Music For Relief, we hoped to mobilize artists and fans to contribute to the massive relief effort in South Asia. Due to the incredible support and generosity of so many of our peers and supporters within the music community, Music for Relief has played a vital role in helping get aid to people who most need it."
Delson added, "We are deeply honored to participate in what will likely be our biggest event to date, Music For Relief's Concert for South Asia. With so many amazing artists on one bill, we expect this concert to be incredibly powerful in its ability to raise both money and awareness for the long-term rebuilding effort we must all support."
Tickets for Music For Relief's Concert for South Asia go on sale to the public this Friday, February 11. A pre-sale will be offered beginning Wednesday on Los Angeles radio station KROQ FM.
