Bono to vist European leaders to press for African aid.
BRUSSELS, BELGIUM [Thursday Jun.9.2005] /WMQT.com/ -- Today, June 9, Bono will visit the European Union's headquarters in Brussels, Belgium to urge EU leaders to take action against global poverty.
The Canadian Press reports that the U2 frontman will meet with the European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso.
According to an EU spokeswoman, the discussions will center "first and foremost on Africa, which the president has made a flagship issue for the commission."
U2 is among the many artists taking part in the Live 8 anti-poverty concerts next month in London, Philadelphia, Rome, Paris, Berlin and Edinburgh. The concerts are timed to coincide with the G8 summit of the leaders of the world's most powerful and wealthy countries.
