PHILADELPHIA, PA [Friday Jun.17.2005] /WMQT.com/ -- 50 Cent has pulled out of the Philadelphia Live 8 concert.
The Associated Press reports that the rapper was forced to cancel his appearance at the show due to a scheduling conflict with his upcoming movie, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'." The film is shooting in Toronto.
While the Philadelphia Live 8 concert has lost 50 Cent, it's gained two powerhouse acts: Linkin Park and Destiny's Child.
Linkin Park and Destiny's Child join a star-studded line-up that includes the Dave Matthews Band, Maroon 5, Jay-Z, Rob Thomas, Sarah McLachlan, Bon Jovi, Will Smith, P. Diddy and the Kaiser Chiefs.
In other Live 8 news, organizers have just announced a new concert, called "Africa Calling," to be staged on July 2 in Cornwall, England.
Spearheaded by Peter Gabriel, the show features African stars such as Youssou N'Dour and Angelique Kidjo, and will coincide with the other Live 8 concerts taking place that day in London, Philadelphia, Berlin, Rome and Paris.
Edinburgh, Scotland will also host a Live 8 show on July 6, the same day the G8 summit begins.
Live 8 organizers also said they will be adding more concerts in Toronto, Tokyo and Johannesburg, South Africa.
