NEW YORK, NY  [Thursday Jul.7.2005]  /WMQT.com/ -- Paul McCartney, Coldplay, and a number of other artists have come together to raise money for global mine-clearing efforts.

Music Clearing Minefields, an initiative of the United Nations Association's Adopt-A-Minefield, is currently holding a benefit auction featuring items from Paul McCartney, Coldplay and Jack Johnson. Proceeds from the auction will help clear land mines around the world.

Among the items up for bidding are VIP concert tickets to McCartney's sold-out fall tour, two front-row tickets to see Coldplay in New York, and two tickets and a meet-and-greet in any city with Jack Johnson.

Elvis Costello, Maroon 5, 3 Doors Down, Avril Lavigne, Celine Dion, B. B. King, John Mellencamp, and Brian Wilson have also donated packages for the Music Clearing Minefields auction, which is being hosted by Charity Folks (www.charityfolks.com).
