Tim McGraw sells out Hollywood Bowl; 18,000 attend show.
HOLLYWOOD, CA [Monday Oct.17.2005] /WMQT.com/ -- More than 18,000 fans were on their feet all night at Tim McGraw's sold out performance at the legendary Hollywood Bowl Saturday night that set a record for the highest grossing show by a country artist at venue.
His privately hosted pre-show party included heads of three film studios, actors, actresses, friends and Hollywood power brokers. Among the celebrities were Larry David ("Curb Your Enthusiasm") and skater Scott Hamilton.
McGRAW'S SHOW – The Hollywood Bowl shell is cavernous so Tim brought it all right down front, no big production elements, just him and the Dancehall Doctors doing their thing. Tim utilized a half circle ramp that allowed him to come deep into the audience to work close to the people moving 180 degrees from stage left and back on stage right.
The Dancehall Doctors rocked the place, Tim was as confident and graceful, and in great voice as ever. He didn't have to do anything that might seem like pandering to a "Bowl audience, because, from the back edge of the bowl to the front of the stage, these were obviously hardcore McGraw fans that could sing his hits with him word-for-word (the show sold out in an hour-and-a-half when tickets went on sale in July).
SHOW OPENERS – Holly Williams and Los Lonely Boys warmed up Tim's audience.
