LOS ANGELES, CA  [Wednesday Nov.2.2005]  /WMQT.com/ -- VH1 is hosting its fourth annual "VH1 Big In '05 Awards," and Green Day, Gwen Stefani and Mariah Carey are among this year's nominees.

The VH1 Big In '05 Awards pays tribute to the biggest people, moments and crazes of the past year, and winners are decided by the general public, who cast their votes online.

Green Day -- one of the great success stories of 2005 -- scored two nominations including Big Download and Big Music Artist.

For the Big Music Artist award, Green Day faces competition from Mariah Carey and Kelley Clarkson.

In the Big Download category, Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" goes up against Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl," The Killers' "Mr. Brightside," The Black Eyed Peas' "Don't Phunk With My Heart," and Journey's "Don't Stop Believing."

Gwen Stefani could potentially take home the Big Stylin' Award. The singer and L.A.M.B. designer is competing with Jessica Simpson, Eva Longoria and Kevin Federline for the Stylin' prize.

Other musicians who received nominations include Kanye West, Tommy Lee, Bo Bice, Whitney Houston, INXS and the Fugees.

Winners will be announced during a televised special premiering Sunday, December 4th, at 8 pm on VH1. Actor and comedian DL Hughley hosts the event from Los Angeles.
