LOS ANGELES, CA  [Wednesday Nov.16.2005]  /WMQT.com/ -- The Vibe Awards belonged to Mariah Carey, who scored four trophies at this year's ceremony.

The show, which celebrates R&B and hip-hop, was taped Sunday, November 13th, and aired last night on UPN.

Carey took home awards for Album of the Year for "The Emancipation of Mimi," Best R&B Song for "We Belong Together," R&B Voice of the Year, and Artist of the Year.

The superstar singer offered these words of advice at the ceremony. "Whatever you're going through in your life, don't ever give up," said Carey.

Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley won the Boomshot Award for his hit song "Welcome To Jamrock." Marley also performed at the event. Kanye West, who did not attend the ceremony, was named Best Rapper.

Other Vibe Award winners included Keyshia Cole, Young Jeezy, Ciara and Ludacris, T.I., the Diplomats, the Game and 50 Cent, Amerie, R. Kelly, and Mary J. Blige who received the V Legend Award in recognition of her many years in the music business.
