Alicia Keys, Bono Duet For AIDS/HIV Char
Alicia Keys-Bono song to benefit Keep A Child Alive.

by Krista Desens

Alicia Keys
NEW YORK, NY  [Thursday Dec.1.2005]  /WMQT.com/ -- Fans of Alicia Keys and U2 know how committed these artists are to the fight against AIDS.

So it shouldn't come as a surprise that Keys and U2 frontman Bono have recorded a song called "Don't Give Up (Africa)" to raise funds for the AIDS/HIV charity organization Keep A Child Alive.

The digital download of "Don't Give Up (Africa)" will be available starting Tuesday, December 6th, exclusively at iTunes, and all the proceeds will go to Keep A Child Alive to provide life-saving medicine to families with AIDS and the HIV virus.

In a statement, Keys said, "I love this song. And I love Bono. I really respect what he has done for Africa and how he has used his fame to do good in the world. I hope I can do half as much in my life."

Keys, who is a global ambassador for Keep A Child Alive, also said, "I believe AIDS is the most important issue we face, because how we treat the poor is a reflection of who we are as a people. I urge everyone to recognize the extreme disaster Africa is facing and step up for the Motherland."

"Don't Give Up" was first recorded by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush and appears on Gabriel's album 1986 "So."
