The Black Eyed Peas
CANNES, FRANCE  [Wednesday Jan.25.2006]  /WMQT.com/ -- The Black Eyed Peas, Madonna and James Blunt were among the winners of France's 2006 NRJ Music Awards held last week in Cannes.

The Black Eyed Peas picked up awards for International Group of The Year, beating out the likes of U2, Green Day, Depeche Mode and Coldplay, and the Peas also won International Album of the Year for their disc, "Monkey Business."

Madonna was awarded the Female International Artist of the Year award, edging out some fierce competition that included Gwen Stefani, Mariah Carey, Natalie Imbruglia and Shakira.

Shakira wasn't left empty-handed, though. The Latin singer scored the International Song of the Year award for her hit single, "La Tortura."

Other NRJ winners include soldier-turned-singer James Blunt, who was honored with the International Best New Artist award, and British singer Robbie Williams, who took home the Male International Artist of the Year trophy.
