West, Black Eyed Peas, Jay-Z, Linkin Park win Rap Grammys.
LOS ANGELES, CA [Friday Feb.10.2006] /WMQT.com/ -- Kanye West, the Black Eyed Peas, Jay-Z and Linkin Park each got Golden Gramophones on Wednesday night.
During the 48th annual Grammy Awards held February 8th in Los Angeles, West scored three awards including Best Rap Solo Performance for the song "Gold Digger," Best Rap Song for "Diamonds from Sierra Leone," and Best Rap Album for "Late Registration."
The Black Eyed Peas edged out competition that included Common and The Last Poets; Eminem, Dr. Dre & 50 Cent; the Game and 50 Cent; and the Ying Yang Twins to take home the award for Best Rap Performance By A Duo or Group. The Peas won for the track "Don't Phunk With My Heart" off their latest album "Monkey Business."
Jay-Z and Linkin Park won the Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for their "Numb/Encore" mash-up off the album "Collision Course." Jay-Z and Linkin Park also performed during the Grammy Awards show, where they were joined by surprise guest and former Beatle Paul McCartney for the Beatles' classic "Yesterday."
