Gorillaz Grab A Grammy
Gorillaz win Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals.

by Krista Desens

Gorillaz
LOS ANGELES, CA  [Monday Feb.13.2006]  /WMQT.com/ -- The Gorillaz made history last week at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards.

First, the Gorillaz won the Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for their song "Feel Good Inc.," beating out the Foo Fighters and Norah Jones; Stevie Wonder and India.Arie; Herbie Hancock and Christina Aguilera; and the Black Eyed Peas and Jack Johnson.

But besides grabbing a Grammy, the Gorillaz also performed for the first time on live network television, where they appeared in 3-D with Madonna.

Rap group De La Soul joined the Gorillaz to open the Grammy telecast, performing "Feel Good Inc." from the album "Demon Days." Madonna took the stage -- in holographic form -- and danced around the Gorillaz as the band segued into her hit single "Hung Up." The Material Mom assumed her human shape as the Gorillaz exited the stage.

About the Grammy performance, Gorillaz drummer Russel said, "I tell you, for me this whole thing has been really off the hook. Ms. Madonna, like us, has been experimenting with different styles since way back, so it makes perfect sense for us to get together like this. And the fact that my boys from De La Soul were in the mix too just makes the whole combination unbeatable."
