Gorillaz Going Live in NYC
Five-night Gorillaz tribute set for April 2-6 in New York.

Gorillaz
NEW YORK, NY  [Friday Mar.3.2006]  /WMQT.com/ -- The Gorillaz are going live in New York City.

The animated Grammy winners will be honored in a series of "Demon Days Live" tribute concerts, set to take place April 2-6 at Harlem's famed Apollo Theater.

Gorillaz co-creator and producer Damon Albarn will take the stage alongside the guest musicians from the Gorillaz' multi-platinum album "Demon Days" for a five-night run in New York City.

Albarn -- along with De La Soul, Ike Turner, Happy Mondays' Shaun Ryder, Neneh Cherry, Bootie Brown of the Pharcyde, UK rapper Roots Manuva, and Martina Topley-Bird -- will perform "Feel Good Inc." and "DARE," plus all the classics heard on the Gorillaz's "Demon Days."

"Demon Days Live" was previously staged "across the pond," at the Manchester Opera House in England.

Tickets for the New York City "Demon Days Live" go on sale Friday, March 10th at 11 a.m. ET through Ticketmaster.

"Demon Days Live" should not be confused with the live holographic tour the Gorillaz have planned for 2007-2008. According to a press release, next year's Gorillaz shows will be "a unique cross between live performance and a theme park experience, with the band fully present onstage, rendered in 3 eye-popping dimensions." The Gorillaz team and animation house Passion Pictures are currently producing the tour.
